Privilege Row: Did Roja Say Sorry Or Not?

At a time when everybody thought the suspension of YSR Congress party MLA R K Roja has become a closed chapter with the latter appearing before the Privileges Committee and giving an explanation to her unsavoury comments against TDP legislator Anitha, the firebrand actor-turned-politician declared that she had not apologised to anyone.

Roja told media after the committee meeting that she had not tendered any apology to Anitha, but had only said she was withdrawing her comments if they had hurt the TDP MLA.

“In fact, I had even demanded that action be taken against TDP members Bonda Uma and others who used foul language against me. The committee said it did not come under its purview. I also argued that the CDs were doctored and presented only one side of the story,” she said.

However, the committee members said Roja had indeed said sorry for her behaviour.

“We had recorded her statement and we shall submit the report to the Speaker in a day or two for necessary action,” they said.

It is quite common that politicians speak one version indoors and speak contrary to the same when they come out before the media.

We had seen such politicians during the all-party meetings. Whether Roja said sorry or not for her behavious is now before the committee.

What she said had been recorded and it would be given to the Speaker. And it only matters to the Speaker in taking final decision. He would not take into consideration what she said outside.
