As YSR Congress party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy is going all out in discarding party MPs and MLAs who stand no chances of winning as per the survey reports, the opposition Telugu Desam Party is seeking to lure some of them, who has potential to upset the calculations of the ruling party.
According to highly placed sources, popular political strategist and Indian Political Action Committee convenor Prashant Kishor is playing a key role in attracting some of the senior leaders of YSRCP into the TDP.
Sources said Prashant Kishor is learnt to be using his old acquaintances with senior YSRCP leaders like Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy, Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy, Balineni Srinivas Reddy and K Parthasarathy, and making an attempt to lure them into the TDP.
All these leaders are upset with Jagan with regard to the selection of candidates and indiscriminate reshuffling of constituencies of the MP and MLA candidates, besides dropping several sitting MLAs and MPs.
“Prashant Kishor is reportedly promising them a bright future in the TDP and even assuring them to ensure that they would get the tickets wherever they want. Some of them are responding positively, while others are still in dilemma,” sources said.
Magunta is likely to take the bait, whereas Vemireddy and Balineni, who were in the forefront in attacking the TDP, are still hesitant as they are not sure of getting recognition in the TDP, sources said.
