Power matters: KCR, Jagan no more influential leaders!

Telangana Chief Minister Anumula Revanth Reddy has secured the 28th position in The Indian Express list of the Top 100 Influential Indians. Last year, he was ranked 39th, marking a notable improvement in his standing.

Notably, the list does not feature Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) president and former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao or YSR Congress Party president Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy — an indication that they are no longer considered influential figures at the national level.

While the selection criteria used by The Indian Express may be open to debate, it is evident that the rankings largely favor those currently in power. In essence, political power appears to be the key determinant for inclusion in the list of influential personalities.

Besides Revanth Reddy, AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi is the only other politician from Telangana featured in the list, ranked at 89.

Despite not holding office, Owaisi continues to wield significant influence within the Muslim community and remains one of its most recognizable political voices.

Interestingly, Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief N. Chandrababu Naidu, who was absent from last year’s list, has now secured the 14th position — clearly a result of his return to power after defeating Jagan Mohan Reddy’s YSRCP in Andhra Pradesh.

Omar Abdullah, also missing from the list last year, now holds the 46th spot following his reappointment as Chief Minister.

Another notable shift is Bihar CM Nitish Kumar’s rise from 24th to 21st, likely due to the central government's growing dependence on regional allies like him and Sharad Pawar.

Meanwhile, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s position dropped significantly — from 18th last year to 52nd — following the erosion of his political influence.

In contrast, Rekha Gupta, who was not on last year’s list, debuts at the 65th rank after assuming the role of Delhi CM.

Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, who previously had no ranking, has now made it to the list at 73rd, reflecting his recent rise in political stature.
