Ponnam cries foul for criminal case

Congress MP Ponnam Prabhakar on Sunday said a criminal case had been registered against him by police under pressure of Seemandhra leaders.

It may be mentioned here that the Karimnagar police booked a case against Ponnam Prabhakar for allegedly threatening to physically eliminate Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy by shooting down his helicopter if he visited Karimnagar district.

The MP denied of having made such a statement.

He said, “I never commented against any individual and I made the statement in a different context to convey anger of the Telangana people”.

He also questioned the police action in registering a case against him just for expressing sentiments of the people of Telangana whereas no case was booked against TDP leader Nannapaneni Rajakumari when she said she would commit suicide by jumping from the Assembly building.

Even no case was registered against Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy, who had said Telangana ministers are conspirators.

The Congress MP said that Telangana Bill will be tabled in Parliament and formation of Telangana State would be their last victory.
