Please Bail Me Out, Naidu Tells Modi

Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Friday gave a piece of mind to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the special category status issue, stating that it was the only way out to rescue the TDP-BJP alliance in the state.

In his 40-minute interaction with the Prime Minister in Delhi, Naidu told him that the people of the state would not accept anything less than the special category status, since it had become a sentimental issue now. And there is every possibility that it would flare up into a large scale agitation on the lines of Patels’ stir of Gujarat; and it would bring bad name not only to the TDP, but also to the BJP.

“Please come to our rescue. The arguments made by Venkaiah Naidu in Rajya Sabha during the passage of AP Reorganisation Bill and the promises made by you and me during the electioneering are now in circulation among the people widely. Everybody would be in trouble if the assurances are not fulfilled,” he said.

According to reports from Delhi, Modi assured that he would take a concrete decision at the earliest without further delay.

Let us wait and see what is in store for the state in the coming couple of days.
