Senior YSR Congress Party leader and former minister Perni Venkatramaiah, also known as Perni Nani, from Machilipatnam in Krishna district, is likely to take over as the in-charge of the party’s central office in Tadepalli.
According to party sources, Jagan Mohan Reddy is planning a major reshuffle of the party organization soon. As part of this restructuring, he intends to appoint Perni Nani as the in-charge of the YSRCP central office.
He will be replacing YSRCP MLC Lella Appi Reddy, who has been coordinating the party office since 2020, in addition to serving as the party's general secretary.
In June 2021, Appi Reddy was nominated as a member of the State Legislative Council under the Governor’s quota.
Sources indicate that Jagan has been receiving multiple complaints against Appi Reddy, who is a close associate of another party general secretary, Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy. Sajjala himself has also been facing several complaints from party workers.
It appears that party workers have accused Appi Reddy and Sajjala of being responsible for the party’s defeat in the last elections, alleging that they never allowed genuine issues to be brought to Jagan’s attention.
After conducting an inquiry into these complaints, Jagan has decided to restructure the party and appoint sincere and loyal leaders to key positions. As part of this move, he is expected to make Perni Nani the central office in-charge, sources said.
In fact, Perni Nani has been actively visiting the party office and engaging with party workers, unlike Appi Reddy and Sajjala, who were reportedly indifferent to their concerns.
“The party cadre trusts Perni Nani more than other leaders, and Jagan might bring him into the central office,” sources added.
