There is a general belief that Telugu Desam Party and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu takes any public issue seriously only if it is highlighted by power star and Jana Sena Party president Pawan Kalyan.
Naidu made efforts to solve the issues on a war-footing basis, if they are taken up by Pawan Kalyan as a movement – whether it is the Uddanam kidney patient issue, Agri Gold depositors issue, Anantapur drinking water crisis issue or most recently, the issue of Agriculture University students. And every time, Pawan thanked Naidu.
So, there is no wonder people started first approaching Pawan when they have problems, so that he can take it up as a movement, forcing the TDP government to respond quickly.
On Saturday, several employees of Dredging Corporation of India, a Central government undertaking, approached Pawan Kalyan and brought to his notice that the Centre was trying to privatise the corporation, resulting in loss of jobs to hundreds of workers.
Pawan responded quickly and came down heavily on the BJP government at the centre for failing to attend to the problems of people. At the same time, he also took Naidu to task for the callous attitude in dealing with the issue.
“The BJP government has failed to grant special category status to the state, but you remained silent because of your own constraints. But when the Centre is ruining the lives of hundreds of Dredging Corporation workers, why should you remain silent?” he asked and appealed to Naidu to bring pressure on the centre to resolve the crisis.
Hope, Naidu will take up this issue also very seriously!
