Even as YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy is getting ready to tour the villages affected by the land pooling in Amaravati capital region, on Thursday, Jana Sena Party president Pawan Kalyan made a swift move to highlight the Amaravati farmers’ issue.
On Wednesday, a large number of farmers from Uddandarayunipalem and Lingayapalem villages came to meet Pawan Kalyan to air their greivances.
They told him that the government was not providing them rehabilitation and resettlement as promised earlier and that they were not getting justice. Stating that the government was acting in a partisan manner, the farmers reportedly broke down before Pawan.
Similarly, farmers from Mula Lanka village of Polavaram mandal also met Pawan and complained that the government was forcibly acquiring land from them to dump the soil brought from Polavaram dam.
Moved by their plight, Pawan told them that he would take up the issue with the government.
“I will speak to the Ministers concerned on your problems and if they don’t respond properly, I will take up the agitation at the field level. I don’t know what the government’s problems are in resolving the farmers’ issues,” he said.
It is certain that Naidu will react to Pawan’s suggestions soon after his return from Davos. Needless to say, this is to neutralize the impact of Jagan’s tour in the area!
