Is Jana Sena founder Pawan Kalyan capable of running his party single-handedly? Will he be able to make a mark among the masses and ensure that their support converts into votes? This has become the latest point of discussion among political and film circles.
Pawan has clarified that he will not merge Jana Sena with BJP. He has also announced that he will now focus on the Greater Hyderabad municipal elections.
Well, he says he is not scared of being defeated a couple of times before he succeeds. But given the past experiences, it is tough to withstand defeat unless a party has dedicated cadre and a systematic organizational style. Pawan Kalyan being a political novice does not appear to be thinking on these lines.
For now, BJP and TDP have emerged as two major political forces. Hence, treading alone may not be an easy task. Earlier, Pawan campaigned for the TDP-BJP alliance, so he found the going easy. However, if he chooses to compete against them, he may find it to be an uphill task.
Pawan’s elder brother Chiranjeevi was forced to merge his party with the Congress despite getting 70 lakh votes.
Given this background, Pawan might face hurdles if he decides to walk ahead without mobilizing cadre and creating a strong base.
