It was a conspiracy to stop me from talking about the T Bill in the Assembly, claims Chandra Babu Naidu.
While a news report in a leading English daily said that the pandemonium in the Assembly actually saved Chandra Babu Naidu.
In fact, the developments reflect the unique situation that Chandra Babu Naidu is caught up in presently.
Dissidents and rebel groups fighting it out on the floor of the Assembly is common to the politics of the Congress party. But TDP never had to face such a situation till date.
Raising slogans by some leaders supporting Telangana and others against it, giving passionate speeches and walking up to the podium, in the presence of their leader, were hitherto unseen in the history of Telugu Desam Party.
Chandra Babu was forced to become a mere spectator as his party MLAs split up based on regional differences.
On the other hand, Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy has taken a firm stand against his Party High Command’s decision to split the state and he is missing no opportunity in condemning it vehemently. He maintained the same tone on the floor of the Assembly.
But Chandra Babu Naidu hasn’t participated in the on-going discussion till now. He had earlier announced that he will speak after January 27.
However, on January 25, when Kiran Kumar Reddy gave notice under Rule 77, Babu supported it and demanded that the T Bill be sent back.
Ever since, pandemonium broke out in the Assembly and the situation has remained the same since Monday.
With ministers stalling the proceedings, it is unlikely that Chandra Babu will get a chance to speak on the Bill now.
If the situation remains the same, then Chandra Babu will not get to talk. But some political observers feel that it will actually act as a boon in disguise for Chandra Babu.
Babu has strived to garner support from both the sections all along. If he gets an opportunity to speak, then it is bound to land him in trouble with either of the sections.
Similarly, the two eye concept and our stand of equal justice are already drawing flak from both the Telangana and Samaikyandhra MLAs.
So, it will be in his best interests if the session ends in pandemonium. Of course, there is bound to be criticism. But it would be better for him if he remains silent now, than say something and regret later.
