Union Minister M Pallam Raju seems to have softened his stand on keeping the State united and instead, he has started asking for protection of interests of Seemandhra in the event of bifurcation.
Pallam Raju said on Monday that he had made suggestions to the Centre on protecting the interests of Seemandhra region, in case division of State became inevitable.
The Minister was speaking at meeting of industrialists and business leaders of East Godavari and North coastal Andhra districts, held here under the auspices of CII.
He said that they had held discussions on expanding the industrial, educational and business opportunities in Seemandhra.
He also said that the feeling that the Congress high command was wilfully ignoring the Seemandhra peoples’ representatives was not correct.
He added that they were making efforts to keep the State united.
Pallam Raju’s observations indicate that he had softened his stand against division of the State.
It may be recalled that he had submitted resignation for his Ministerial post and also insisted on its acceptance.
But now, it seems he has reconciled to the inevitability of bifurcation of the State.
