There have been reports in a section of social media in Hyderabad that All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) president and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi would be meeting YSR Congress party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy on Monday.
According to these reports, Owaisi had flown to Vijayawada and would have a meeting with Jagan at the latter’s Tadepalli residence. It is learnt Jagan would be hosting lunch for the AIMIM president.
If these reports turn out to be true, it is really a surprising development, as there have not been any instances of Owaisi meeting Jagan or vice versa in the past either in Hyderabad or in Vijayawada or Tadepalli.
Both the leaders do not have any common political interests. While the AIMIM does not have any stakes in Andhra Pradesh as the party had never fielded its candidates in the region.
At the same time, Jagan has also been keeping away form Telangana politics, leave alone the MIM strongholds in Hyderabad.
So, what Jagan and Owaisi would be discussing at the luncheon meeting is definitely a matter or curiosity.
There is a talk that Owaisi must be trying to expand his hospital business to Andhra Pradesh and might have gone to meet Jagan to seek his help in getting some land allotment.
There is also a speculation that Jagan himself might have invited Owaisi to work out a strategy to split the opposition votes.
