There is a popular saying in Telugu: He who digs a pit falls into it himself. That seemed to be precisely the case in Vijayawada yesterday.
Protesting the remarks of YS Jaganmohan Reddy against Chandrababu Naidu, a group of TDP men led by corporator Jasti Sambasiva Rao arrived at NTR Circle and tried to burn an effigy of YS Jagan. But they were prevented from doing so by the police.
In the melee that ensued, the corporator received burns along with two sub-inspectors who tried to save him. Maybe this is a sign of sorts, of what is going to befall the TDP in future.
As for the corporator, he was shifted to a star hospital for treatment whereas the cops, who suffered injuries as well in trying to save his life, are being treated at the government hospital.
It can be safely surmised that Jasti Sambasiva Rao is not going to attempt burning any more effigies in the near future!
