Calling the leaders of opposition parties as “idiots” and “bewakoofs” (fools), Telangana Rahstra Samithi president and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Saturday attacked them for questioning his decision on reducing the quota of Backward Classes in the panchayat raj elections.
Addressing a press conference at Pragathi Bhavan, KCR lashed out at the Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party leaders saying that they did not learn their lessons even after people rejected them in the recent election.
He refuted the allegations that the TRS government had no concern towards the BCs.
“These leaders are shedding crocodile tears on the BC welfare. The people know who really is working for them. We have provided reservation to BCs in market committees. No government took up the kind of welfare programmes we had taken up in the last four years,” he pointed out.
On reduction of BC reservations, the TRS chief said he was only following the orders of Supreme Court and High Court.
“They are making idiotic comments. It was the Congress leaders who had filed cases against Telangana government's act of increasing BC reservation in Panchayats. Our government even went to Supreme Court challenging the HC judgment, but the SC upheld the HC verdict,” he said.
He said that government had no option but to comply with SC and HC judgment. He asserted that TRS government is committed to BC development.
