The appointment of the Telangana unit of Jana Sena Party founded by power star Pawan Kalyan has raised many an eyebrow.
On Sunday, Pawan appointed a three-member steering committee comprising B Mahender Reddy. V Shankar Goud and Hari Prasad for expanding the Jana Sena Party in Telangana.
While Shankar Goud is in charge of Telangana State unit, Mahender Reddy will coordinate the party affairs and Hari Prasad will look into media affairs and publicity. The party has already got the recognition from the Election Commission last year itself.
The formation of Telangana unit of the Jana Sena party comes within a week of Pawan Kalyan declaring that he would shift his base to West Godavari and register his name as voter in Eluru.
And in his recent public meetings, the power star openly expressed his resentment over formation of Telangana state by dividing erstwhile Andhra Pradesh. He even attacked the Telangana people and leaders for treating Andhra people as looters and enemies.
Under these circumstances, what stakes would the Jana Sena Party have in Telangana in the next elections? It would not get candidates and even if it gets, there won’t be any takers among the voters.
At a time when bigger parties like the Telugu Desam Party and the YSR Congress party have lost their bases in Telangana, it is surprising as to how Pawan has estimated that he would make a difference in Telangana politics.
