Officer Shunted To Delhi For Questioning KCR!

Officer Shunted To Delhi For Questioning KCR!

Senior IAS officer Aravind Kumar, who had hitherto been holding important post of principal secretary to Energy and Industries department in the Government of Telangana, has been suddenly shunted to New Delhi to take over as Resident Commissioner of Telangana Bhavan.

Reason: Aravind Kumar recently wrote to Electricity Regulatory Commission stating that chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s decision to buy power from Chhattisgarh at high rates is going to cost heavily on the state exchequer.

Despite his objections, the Telangana Transco entered into an agreement with Chhattisgarh government for purchase of power, though the demand for power has come down in the state and cheaper power options are available. Not only that, the Transco is spending crores of rupees on laying new transmission network to buy power from Chhattisgarh.

In fact, Aravind Kumar’s letter reflects the majority opinion of the Opposition which has been questioning KCR on Chhattisgarh power. So, naturally, it angered KCR who shifted the IAS officer to Delhi, where he will have virtually no work. May be Aravind himself wanted to get out of the state because of pressures from KCR, say sources.

Interestingly, it was only the other day that the government applauded the efforts of Aravind Kumar in securing No. 1 rank in Ease of Doing Business!
