Why has Telangana Rashtra Samithi government decided to supply 'superfine' rice (Sanna Biyyam in Telugu) to the poor in hostels and Anganwadi centres?
Well, the reasoning given by Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao sounds very surprising. “I am a very thin and slim person (bakka prani). So, I thought of giving fine rice to the poor,” he said in the Assembly, amidst laughter from members.
At the same time, he took potshots at the Congress leaders as well. “The Congress government had supplied only “doddu biyyam” (coarse rice) to the poor, because the Congress leaders are very stout,” he remarked.
KCR also appreciated his AP counterpart N Chandrababu Naidu for denying power to Telangana from Krishnapatnam as it helped us from losing Rs 2,500 crore, he said. However, he maintained that the TRS Government will move the court to get its due share of power form Seeleru project.
Opposition members raked up several issues including fine rice, housing to poor, financial assistance to farmers in distress and succor to kin of families of farmers, who committed suicides. KCR said every promise made will be kept.
