AICC General Secretary In-Charge of AP Affairs Digvijay Singh on Wednesday disclosed that gazette notification would be released shortly for creation of Telangana State.
Digvijay said separate PCCs and Election committees would be set up for Telangana and Seemandhra due to bifurcation of the State.
He claimed the Congress had fulfilled all promises made during the last 10 years. Stating that the Centre accorded special status to Seemandhra for five years, he said the residual AP State would get 90 percent of Central grants apart from tax exemptions in residual AP. He also assured that Polavaram project would be completed with the Central assistance.
“Sonia Gandhi directed the Seemandhra Congress leaders to popularize the benefits given to the region due to State’s bifurcation”, he maintained.
He felt there should be healthy competition between Telangana and residual Andhra Pradesh in achieving development in agriculture and industrial sectors.
He informed that Sonia Gandhi and AICC Vice President Rahul Gandhi would attend the public meetings, which would be organized in Telangana and Seemandhra in the last week of March.
Digvijay also assured that the Congress party would strive for comprehensive development of Telangana and Seemandhra regions. Seemandhra leaders made valuable suggestions at the party meetings held yesterday and today for development of their State, he added.
He said an Experts Committee would look into the selection of places for setting up of a new capital and High Court. He also pointed out that the AP has achieved development and stoop on top among the States in the Country during the Congress rule from 2004 to 2014.
