If the reports from inside the Telangana Rashtra Samithi are to be believed, the notices given by Andhra Pradesh police to the television channels in Telangana are just part of a big drama enacted by the Telangana and AP governments.
According to these reports, the Centre has sent strong message to both Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and his AP counterpart N Chandrababu Naidu not to precipitate the matter further and create needless tensions in the people.
In fact, there was a warning to Naidu, stating that if he tries to convert the cash-for-vote scam into an inter-State dispute, the Centre would have to intervene. On the other hand, it also asked KCR not to make a big issue of audio tapes containing Naidu voice.
Both the CMs are learnt to have agreed to the Centre’s suggestion and that is why, they have gone into silent mode for the last one week.
But if the issue suddenly subsides, it would create a wrong impression among the people and the party cadre. So, they are allowing their party leaders to make statements, while finding issues to divert the people’s attention.
The notices to T-News and Sakshi are said to be part of this game plan. “Nothing will come out of these notices. But, it will definitely take the sting out of the actual case,” sources said.
