No Trust Motion On Friday, Who'll Gain What?

No Trust Motion On Friday, Who'll Gain What?

Virtually turning the tables on the Opposition parties, Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan on Wednesday admitted the notice given by the Telugu Desam Party MPs seeking to move no-confidence motion against the Narendra Modi government in Lok Sabha for denying what is due to Andhra Pradesh, particularly the special category status.

She fixed Friday for discussion on the no-confidence motion. The question hour would be suspected on that day and the House would discuss only the motion.

The decision came as a surprise, as the TDP and other Opposition parties expected that the Modi government would not allow any discussion on the no-confidence motion.

The TDP MPs were even prepared to create ruckus in the Lok Sabha and stall the proceedings, if the BJP tried to avoid taking up of the no-confidence motion notice by provoking its friendly parties like AIADMK as it had done during the budget session.

But there was no uproar in the Lok Sabha when the Speaker took up the notice and quietly announced that she was admitting it and would allow the discussion on Friday.

Apparently, the Modi government has decided to put up an end to this drama of the TDP. While this is likely to be the last Parliament session, the Prime Minister also wants to make use of the opportunity to take a dig at the opposition with Lok Sabha as the platform.

It will also give a chance to the Modi government to expose Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu’s political game.

For the TDP, too, it has given an opportunity to project before the people of the state that it was fight for the cause of the state.

Whether the people believe the BJP or not, it will be a chance to the TDP to gain some political mileage!
