The YSRCP says that the true colours of Mr. Chandrababu Naidu were revealed when he usurped power from TDP founder N. T. Rama Rao.
The Party accused the Chief Minister of luring Opposition MLAs by implicating them in false cases and offering cabinet berths. On the other hand, YSR Congress leader Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy was insisting that anyone joining the party seek a fresh mandate first.
There is definitely truth in what the YSRCP is saying because Jagan and his mother resigned from the Congress and sought a fresh mandate from the people. Their legislators too did likewise.
But taking the high moral ground in today’s political scenario is not a very wise thing to do. KCR made umpteen promises including one that entails making a Dalit the first CM of Telangana. All those promises have gone with the wind!
And yet, the people are giving him a mandate in every election. And the same goes for Chandrababu who would probably enter the ‘Limca Book of Records’ for his failed promises.
So, in today’s society, power is the only objective, by hook or by crook. The high moral ground will win applause from a few arm-chair intellectuals and that’s that!
It will not win elections for Jagan. And the day he realizes that, the better politician will he be although that might not mean a better person or leader.
