No Need For More Time For T-Debate

Accusing the Seemandhra leaders of conspiring against Telangana at last moments when the Statehood is going to be granted in February next, Chief Whip G Venkataramana Reddy on Thursday slammed the former for seeking more time to debate Telangana Draft Bill.

He said the Seemandhra leaders, including Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, Leader of the Opposition N Chandrababu Naidu and YSR Congress Party chief Y S Jaganmohan Reddy were trying to stall the debate in the House.

The Chief Whip said a delegation of Telangana leaders would meet President Pranab Mukherjee in a couple of days and urge him not to extend time in this regard.

“We, the Telangana leaders will write a letter to the President soon. Only those who were hatching a plot against statehood are resorting to misinformation campaign that 10 days time will be extended for the debate by the President”, he said.

Since much of six weeks’ time was deliberately wasted by the Seemandhra leaders against bifurcation, there should be no further extension of the time now, he opined.

“We don’t think that the President, who is aware of the Telangana demand and Seemandhra leaders’ wrong fight against the statehood, will not extend time, the Chief Whip said.
