No Drought In Telangana?

While the Andhra Pradesh government is begging the Centre for funds to mitigate the prevailing drought conditions in that State in the wake of the Opposition parties making a big noise, the Telangana government has not surprisingly made any such attempt to get funds.

Normally, Telangana is seriously drought-prone compared to AP, but the K Chandrasekhar Rao government has not come out with any action plan so far. And the Centre, too, is surprised over KCR’s indifferent attitude.

Union Agriculture Minister Radhamohan Singh on Tuesday said there was no representation from the Telangana government seeking help towards drought relief from the Centre.

The Union Minister made these remarks when a group of Telangana Telugu Desam leaders called on him and sought drought relief to the Telangana State.

“We have not received any letter for drought relief and funds from the Telangana Government”, Radhamohan Singh reportedly told them.

“Of course, we will look into the issue if the TS Government seeks any assistance on its drought problem”, he noted.

The Union Minister also suggested that the State can make use of National Drought Relief funds to provide immediate succor to those in difficulty.

Radhamohan Singh said he would write a letter to State chief secretary to send details pertaining to drought in the districts of Telangana State.
