The latest gossip doing the rounds in political circles is that the BJP is seriously contemplating projecting Nirmala Seetharaman as a Chief Ministerial candidate in Tamil Nadu.
Nirmala is currently a Minister in the Union Cabinet and a native of Tamil Nadu.
She is however married to Parakala Prabhakar, media adviser to the AP Government, whom she met during her academics in the UK.
Since Nirmala is a Tamilian, the BJP feels that she would fit in perfectly with their plans.
The BJP is extremely keen on bolstering its presence in South India where it is not a major player as part of its strategy; Amit Shah is visiting the various States.
He is due to visit Tamil Nadu shortly and a decision on Nirmala Seetharaman candidature could probably be taken after the visit.
