Of late, the industry has been contemplating to slash the prices of top actors and directors in an effort to cut costs of production and to ensure there is a higher margin in profits.
From the known lot, NTR and Puri were the first people to voluntarily cut down on their remunerations. In fact, for their next film, they have both reduced prices much below the original charges.
Finally, producer Bandla Ganesh decided to make them partners in production and allotted a major area to each of them.
It was decided that whatever the film makes in the Nizam area will go to NTR while whatever it makes in the Ceded will go to Puri Jagannadh. But considering the business that happens in both the areas, it is a very good deal for them.
Both the areas included, usually a hit film makes nothing less than Rs 17 crores. So, producer Bandla Ganesh will get profits from uttarandhra, Andhra, satellite rights including Karnataka, DVD rights, etc, if the film becomes a success.
This many feel is a good business model. If the producer and buyers make money, then the others will surely follow the trend say industry insiders.
