New districts: Disgruntlement within TRS

The indiscriminate formation of new districts in Telangana is causing disgruntlement within the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi, much to the embarrassment of party president and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao.

On Tuesday, TRS legislator from Narayanpet in Mahbubnagar district Rajender Reddy threatened to resign from his assembly membership if Narayanpet was not formed into a new district. He conveyed the message to KCR through other MLAs and ministers from the district.

Interestingly, Rajender Reddy was elected on Telugu Desam Party ticket and jumped into the TRS only recently.

Already, KCR agreed to make Gadwal into a district, after local Congress MLA D K Aruna threatened to resign from the post.

On the other hand, minister Ajmeera Chandulal openly expressed his resentment before the chief minister over formation of new districts in Warangal. He even reportedly broke down for not considering his Mulug constituency as the new district.

Similar resentments have been pouring in from the TRS ranks in other parts of Telangana over formation of new districts.

The Opposition parties are questioning as to how KCR can grant districts so indiscriminately without any scientific method or rationale.
