NDTV Slowly Changing Its Colours!

NDTV Slowly Changing Its Colours!

Within two days of its founders Prannoy Roy and his wife Radhika Roy resigned as the directors of promoter group vehicle RRPR Holding Private Limited, following near takeover by the Adani group, the popular television news channel NDTV has started showing its true colours.

All these years, the NDTV had adopted a more or less centrist stand in news presentation and news-related programmes, though Prannoy and Radhika were believed to be closer to the Congress high command and were critical of the policies of the Bharatiya Janata Party in general and Prime Minister Narendra Modi in particular.

But there was a visible change in the presentation of its news Thursday evening onwards.

The stand has tilted towards right of centre with the news highlighting Narendra Modi show in Gujarat. It has indicated that in the coming days, it is all set to change its colour to saffron like India Today, Zee News and ABP News.

Within hours of the quitting of Roys, the board of RRPR Holding has approved the appointment of Sudipta Bhattacharya, Sanjay Pugalia and Senthil Sinniah Chengalvarayan as Directors on its board with immediate effect. Needless to say, they are the nominees of Adani Group.

Meanwhile, the NDTV is also witnessing exit of committed journalists who had become pillars of the channel.

Senior Hindi journalist and anchor Ravish Kumar, who hosted the widely lauded primetime show on NDTV India, announced his resignation with effect from December 1 and many others might follow suit.

The Adani group will bring in journalists who are closer to the power centre and it is only a matter of time that the NDTV will become saffronised.
