After much dilly dallying, Nallari Kishore Kumar Reddy, brother of Nallari Kiran Kumar Reddy, last chief minister of combined Andhra Pradesh , has decided to join the ruling Telugu Desam Party.
Kishore is meeting TDP president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu later on Thursday and will formally join the party. Along with him, his son Amarnath Reddy is also going to join the TDP.
Since Nallari family still has a lot of reputation in Chittoor district – their grandfather Rajagopal Reddy was the political guru of Chandrababu Naidu, their entry is expected to boost the TDP in the district.
In fact, Kishore is new to politics, though he was associated with his brother in the launch of Samaikya Andhra Party before 2014 elections. Since then, he has been uncertain about his political entry.
One stage, there was a talk that he would join the YSR Congress party, but apparently, he did not gain entry there.
Recently, he held a meeting with a large number of followers of his brother Kiran Kumar Reddy at Vayalpadu and hinted that he would become active in politics soon.
However, the tone and tenor of his speech at the meeting indicated that he might join the YSRC, as he attacked the local MLA and MP, both from the TDP.
Since Kiran was an out-and-out rival of Chandrababu Naidu, it was expected that he would join the rival party. But now, Kishore sprang a surprise on everybody by deciding to join the TDP.
As regards Kiran Kumar Reddy, he is still uncertain as to whether he should come back into politics or stay away from it. After the bifurcation of the state, he virtually went into political oblivion.
Occasionally, there was a talk about Kiran returning to politics by joining one party or the other, but there was no word from him till date.
Only once sometime last year that he hinted at coming back into politics, but there were no further moves from him.
