Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu has been spending decent amount of time trying to promote the cause of Prime Minister Modi and his wearing a suit. Naidu wonders what’s wrong with Modi wearing a suit when three generations of Nehru-Gandhi family wore suits consistently.
In fact, some time back, there was talk that Naidu had asked what was wrong with BC leaders wearing suits. Now, Modi wearing a suit is no big issue per se.
But instead of going for an Indian make, Modi chose to wear a rather expensive suit made in London and this has naturally resulted in a lot of criticism.
Surprisingly, while wearing your national dress is definitely appropriate, wonder why some people don’t get it that it is part of the dress code and etiquette to wear a suit when he is meeting leaders abroad especially since all of them are dressed in suits.
Of course, there in no harm in wearing our Indian kurta pyjama, but then the criticism would be that Modi did not have a sense of dressing as he is from RSS background unlike the more sophisticated Nehru-Gandhi family.
Ironically, though his father and grandfather have been seen in suits on various occasions, Rahul baba himself hasn’t been spotted in a suit till now. But again, he is not a head of the nation who has to fulfill official protocol.
Well, some times politicians have a no-win situation and it is definitely hard to please everyone all the time.
