It looks like Telugu Desam Party president and AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is facing a jinx insofar as nominations to Rajya Sabha are concerned.
Most of the TDP leaders whom Naidu had nominated to Rajya Sabha had deserted the party soon after their term is completed.
The latest in the list is Gundu Sudha Rani, sitting RS member of the TDP from Warangal district. According to reports, she will soon take a plunge into the Telangana Rashtra Samiti.
On Tuesday, Sudha Rani called on TRS supremo and Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao in Delhi and disclosed her willingness to join the ruling party.
She reportedly told the Chief Minister that she would like to embrace the TRS on the auspicious day October 29, much before the ensuing by-election to Warangal Lok Sabha seat.
By agreeing to admit the TDP Rajya Sabha Member, the TRS supremo struck another nail into the TDP coffin.
In the past, most of the TDP leaders who were nominated to Rajya Sabha deserted the party to look for greener pastures.
It started with actress-turned-politician Jayaprada, who was nominated to Rajya Sabha during Naidu’s earlier stint as AP Chief Minister. So was the case with actor Mohan Babu, who also quit the party for good.
It was followed by Renuka Chowdary, who was also a two-time MP. Then it was the turn of M V Mysoora Reddy who also quit the party and joined YSR Congress party.
Another senior leader who quit the TDP after serving as Rajya Sabha member for two times was C Ramachandraiah, who later jumped to the Congress and is presently MLC.
So was the case with Vanga Geetha, who was made Telugu Mahila president and also Rajya Sabha member by Naidu, but she, too, dumped Naidu for good and joined the YSR Congress party. At present, she is not very active there.
It remains to be seen how many MPs Naidu will lose in the coming days.
