Telugu Desam Party president and former Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu is often talked about on his management skills – not the management of administration exactly, but management of systems.
His political critics say that Naidu is a master in manipulating systems – he has ensured that his close acquaintances are there everywhere, whether it is in other political parties or administration and even in judiciary.
It was because of these management techniques that Naidu had been able to get away, despite facing several allegations of corruption and ensure that the judgements in several such cases in his favour. In his 45 years of public life, he could not be thrown in jail even once, because of his managerial abilities.
But now, everything seems to be going wrong for Naidu. He has faced not only arrest, but also imprisonment, albeit on judicial remand, which he had never expected in his life.
Nothing is working in favour of him anywhere – whether it is a local ACB court at Vijayawada or the state high court.
Despite engaging top class advocates from Supreme Court, like Harish Salve and Sidharth Luthra, he has not been able to influence the judges in any manner and get the verdict in his favour.
Now, he is getting ready to fight the last battle in Supreme Court, by challenging the high court verdict dismissing his quash petition against the CID case into skill development corporation scam.
His son Nara Lokesh stayed back in Delhi to lobby with the top legal luminaries to see that Naidu gets some relief in the Supreme Court. He is making use of his father’s influence in judiciary to get a favourable judgement.
Naidu’s lawyer Siddharth Luthra is sounding optimistic that Naidu might get some relief in the apex court.
He made a comment on X (twitter), saying: “Har raat ki subah Aati hai Naya din Ujala laata hai” (There is dawn after night and each morning brings light into our lives).
Maybe, Luthra, who had earlier helped Naidu in cash-for-vote scandal, is doing his bit to influence the top bosses to see that Naidu comes out on bail at least, if not the entire case.
