Telugu Desam Party MLA from Chirala in Prakasam district Amanchi Krishna Mohan is in trouble for instigating his brother Amanchi Swamulu for thrashing a journalist Nagarjuna Reddy for writing negative stories.
TDP president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu is understood to have asked the police to take strict action against the MLA and his brother as per the law. He said he did not want to get any complaints from journalists on the lawlessness in the state.
On the direction of Naidu, deputy chief minister Nimmakayala Chinna Rajappa held a high power committee meeting at Velagapudi to discuss how preventing to prevent such attacks.
Stating that a committee would be formed for each district, Chinarajappa asked the police to investigate the attack against reporter Nagarjuna Reddy and submit a report.
In February this year, TDP MLA Amanchi Krishna Mohan’s brother, Amanchi Swamulu, and his associates, chased down and thrashed a journalist on the streets of Chirala in Andhra’s Prakasam district.
The journalist was punched, kicked and beaten with a stick by a group of people in the middle of the street in broad daylight. The assault eventually stopped after a policeman intervened.
