Naidu Violates His Own Orders!

Naidu Violates His Own Orders!

Not long ago, Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu issued a GO allotting land liberally to political parties in the state.

According to the GO, a political party which has 50 per cent or more than the number of seats in the Assembly will get four acres of land in the capital region and two acres in district headquarters.

Parties which have less than 50 per cent and more than 25 per cent seats in the Assembly will get land up to half acre in capital region and 1,000 square yards in districts.

And those parties which have less than 25 per cent of seats in the Assembly or having at least one MLA or MLC, will get 1,000 square yards in the capital region and 300 square yards in district headquarters.

The land will be allotted for a period of 33 years initially, which can be extended up to 99 years. And the lease amount is just Rs 1000 per annum.

It was pretty clear that the GO was issued to favour the ruling TDP to knock away precious land in Amaravati and other district headquarters, while offering only a small piece of land to the main Opposition YSR Congress party, though the latter got just two per cent less votes than the TDP.

Going by the GO, the Bharatiya Janata Party, which got less than 25 per cent of the seats will get just 300 square yards in district headquarters. However, very recently, the Naidu government allotted nearly 600 square yards to the BJP to set up party office in Visakhapatnam. Reason: BJP is a friendly party of the TDP.

How can Naidu violate his own GO to favour BJP, just because it is his election ally?
