With the first session of the residuary Andhra Pradesh State commencing on Thursday, AP chief minister and TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu is said to be tense, especially on the implementation of crop loan waiver scheme.
Naidu has to make an official statement in the Assembly in the next couple of days, as the Opposition party --- YSR Congress party – is ready to pounce on him. So, Naidu hurriedly called RBI governor Raghuram Rajan over telephone about the objections raised against crop loan waiver scheme.
He reportedly apprised the RBI governor on the need for waiving of loans of farmers as agriculture sector faced a crisis, including price rise of seeds and fertilizers, heavy rains and floods during last ten years resulting in heavy losses to the farmers.
He also wanted the RBI governor to cooperate in extending helping hand to farmers who have been facing problems.
Naidu has already decided to take up the issue with the central government following a letter received from the RBI.
He also had a meeting with senior government officials and bankers and reviewed ways and means of effective implementation of the scheme, and reportedly decided to go ahead with fulfilling his commitment given to the farmers.
