Naidu Targeting Reddy Community

Naidu Targeting Reddy Community

Naidu’s ‘land pooling’ decision could lead to a violent community clash once again in Andhra Pradesh.

Naidu’s decision to acquire land forcibly from the farmers if they refuse to give it up voluntarily could have sinister motives behind it.

It is believed that this decision is being contemplated only to get back at the ‘Reddy’ community which was in power for the last ten years in AP.

Going further into the details; land is being sourced by the government in and around Mangalagiri area.

Mangalagiri village and the adjoining villages Tadepalli, Atmakuru, Kunchanapalli, Kaza, Venkatreddy Palem, Namburu, Pedakakani and Mellampudi are dominated by farmers from the Reddy community.

These farmers believe that Naidu is intentionally targeting them.

When a Minister from Naidu’s government tried to persuade the farmers to part with their land, they hit back at the Minister asking him to try his luck in villages like Yadlapadu, Duggirala, Mandadam, Venkatayyapalem and Amaravathi which is dominated by the Kammas.

This move by Chandrababu is seen as a ploy to place the reddy community in a disadvantageous position.

The farmers in and around Mangalagiri have decided to fight the ‘land pooling’ tooth and nail.

They have stated without any ambiguity that they would go to any extreme to protect their lands. In the past,

Vijayawada was rocked by violent clashes between Kammas and Kapus owing allegiance to Devineni Nehru and Vangaveeti Ranga. It severely derailed the progress of the city.

Now taking decisions specifically targeting a particular community can lead to a similar sort of situation once again as in Anantpur where land became the bone of contention leading to a faction war between the Kammas led by Paritala Ravi and Reddys led by Gangula Narayana Reddy and later his son, Gangula (Maddelacheruvu) Suri.

Except for Ram Gopal Varma, no one benefitted from the ‘Rakhta Charitra’.
