Naidu suspects Jagan coverts in secretariat!

Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu is said to be suspecting that not just a few IAS and IPS officers, but even several lower-rung officials are still working as coverts of the YSR Congress party headed by former chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy.

Sources said the way the GO was issued on implementation of Guaranteed Pension Scheme (GPS) on the same day of Naidu taking oath as the chief minister and the gazette notification issued exactly a month later clearly established the fact that there are still several officials who are acting as per the directions of the YSRCP.

While the GO was issued by former special chief secretary (finance) S S Rawat, the gazette notification was issued a month later by the lower-rung officials, without the knowledge of the new government.

After cancelling the GO and the gazette notification, Naidu ordered a comprehensive inquiry into the whole issue.

The Chief Minister’s Office, which plunged into action, reportedly identified two officials – a deputy secretary in the state finance department and a section officer of the law department, responsible for the issuance of the GO and the gazette notification.

While the CMO is inquiring into the background and the political connections of these two officials, it is also started discreet inquiries about several other officials who were holding key positions during the Jagan government and are presently doing covert operations on behalf of the YSRCP.

Apparently, these covert officials are passing on crucial information to Jagan and his team, so that they could use them again to target the Naidu government in the coming days.

Sources said Naidu, who had been the chief minister three times in the past, expressed surprise over the way the previous YSRCP government corrupted the lower-rung officials and used them as its tools.

“I have never seen such kind of covert activity in the past, though the TDP was in and out of power several times,” he reportedly said.
