Legendary actor and former chief minister of Andhra Pradesh N T Rama Rao had founded the Telugu Desam Party on the plank of safeguarding the self-respect of the Telugu people.
But his son-in-law and present chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu is mortgaging the same self-respect for his personal gains.
This was the opinion expressed by senior Congress leader and leader of the Congress party in Andhra legislative council C Ramachandraiah.
He wondered why Chandrababu Naidu had moved a resolution in the assembly thanking the Narendra Modi-led NDA government for granting Union cabinet approval for the so-called special financial assistance to the state in lieu of the special category status.
“This is nothing but insulting six crores of Telugu people and their self-respect. Naidu has done an unpardonable crime. He has ruined the rights of the people. In order to cover up his political weakness, he has ganged up with the Centre,” Ramachandraiah alleged.
“While NTR fought all through his life for the self-respect of the Telugus, Naidu compromised on the same and mortgaged the self-respect of the people with the Centre by prostrating before Modi,” Ramachandraiah said.
