Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu seems to be apprehensive that the NDA government might dismiss his government and impose President’s Rule in the state.
Apparently, Naidu has got some signals to that effect, as he continues to challenge the Narendra Modi government at the Centre and galvanise anti-BJP forces at the national level.
The knife attack on YSR Congress party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy to National Investigation Agency, increase in the activities of Maoists in Andhra-Odisha borders and attack on the residence of BJP state president Kanna Lakshminarayan are some of the reasons for the Centre mulling the option of imposing President’s Rule in the state.
The sudden transfer of chief electoral officer R P Sisodia and his replacement by another IAS officer Gopal Krishna Dwivedi is also said to be an attempt to checkmate Naidu.
The TDP has been suspecting that such a situation might arise. Minister for Social Welfare Nakka Anand Babu has already alleged that some state BJP leaders want to create some kind of law and order situation and to see that President’s rule is imposed in Andhra Pradesh.
On Monday, TDP president and chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu also expressed apprehension that the Centre might promulgate President’s rule in the state to dethrone his government, as was evident from the statements of the BJP leaders.
“We are not scared of the dirty political tactics of the BJP leaders,” he said, interacting with the TDP leaders during a teleconference.
He questioned the BJP leaders that how could they come to the State without honouring their promises.
He said that from now onwards, till the end of general elections, one Union Minister will visit the State to participate in BJP activities every day.
