Naidu, Lokesh Looking At Penamaluru For 2024?

Naidu, Lokesh Looking At Penamaluru For 2024?

There are strong rumours doing rounds in Andhra Pradesh about TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu and his son Nara Lokesh looking at a second Assembly constituency to be on the safer side in the 2024 general elections.

While Chandrababu Naidu has been successfully contesting from Kuppam Assembly constituency since 1989, Lokesh contested unsuccessfully from Mangalagiri constituency in the 2019 elections.

The two leaders have already said that they would contest from their respective constituencies in the next elections due in 2024.

However, there are strong rumours doing rounds that the father and the son were on the lookout for safe constituency.

The TDP is weakened in the Kuppam constituency as people have voted for the ruling YSR Congress in the panchayat and municipal elections in 2021.

Perhaps for the first time, Chandrababu Naidu had toured the constituency half-a-dozen times only to retain the seat.

However, the YSR Congress is working hard to defeat Chandrababu Naidu in the next elections, forcing the TDP chief to look for an alternative seat.

Though Lokesh had announced that he would contest again from Mangalagiri constituency, the TDP had a major blow with its senior leader Ganji Chiranjeevi leaving the party and joining the ruling YSR Congress.

Thus, Lokesh too is on the search for a safer seat, source said.

According to the available information, Penamaluru Assembly constituency in Krishna district, Ponnuru in Guntur are the two options that both the father and the son have laid their hands on.

They are also looking at safe places in north coastal Andhra Pradesh.

Does it mean, the father and the son have lost hopes of winning their own seats in the next elections?
