Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu, who has been denying of his secret understanding with the Congress party all these days, was thoroughly exposed on Thursday during the elections to the Rajya Sabbha deputy chairman post.
So was the Telangana Rashtra Samithi president and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, who has been sending indirect overtures to the Bharatiya Janata Party central leadership in general and Prime Minister Narendra Modi in particular.
Rajya Sabha members of the TDP openly voted for Congress party candidate B K Hariprasad in the RS deputy chairman elections, on the pretext that their sole objective was to defeat the NDA candidate Harivansh Narayan Singh.
In fact, the BJP cleverly avoided fielding its own candidate only to attract the support of other parties.
And TDP, too, could have voted for him, because he was a Janata Dal (U) candidate. But just because he is an NDA candidate, Naidu decided that the TDP MPs voted for the Congress candidate.
In the process, he clearly exposed his intentions to join hands with the Congress party in the coming days.
Similarly, the TRS, too, could have avoided the controversy by abstaining from the voting just like Aam Admi Party, but KCR decided to support the NDA candidate, only because he did not want the Congress candidate to win. But, in the process, he proved that he is going to be part of the NDA in the coming days!
As far as YSR Congress party is concerned, its president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy played safe by asking his two RS members to abstain from voting, so as to show that he is opposing both the BJP and the Congress!
