The extravagant spending by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on construction of temporary buildings for the new State Secretariat in Guntur district has come under severe criticism from all quarters.
According to a political analyst, Naidu’s idea of constructing temporary official complex was nothing but waste of money, as nothing had stopped him from constructing the permanent buildings.
“It is more than four months since Prime Minister Narendra Modi had laid foundation for the new capital of Amaravati. Since then, not a single work has commenced. Naidu has been whiling away time in the name of revised master plan for Capital Region Development and projecting colourful films for the people. Since the people are getting impatient, he has come out with this idea of temporary official complex,” the analyst observed.
People are now asking when the actual capital construction would begin; and what would happen to the temporary Secretariat once the new official complex comes into operation?
Will Naidu demolish the temporary structures; or will he use the same for some other purposes? What stopped Naidu from going in for permanent Secretariat complex once and for all?
Apparently, the cost of the temporary structures is Rs 3,300 per square feet, which is quite exorbitant given the location and availability of resources. Is it not penny wise, pound foolish activity, Mr Naidu?
