Naidu Is Now AP Voter; Why TDP In Telangana?

With Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu writing to the Election Commission to shift his vote from Hyderabad to Vijayawada, his party has virtually lost its relevance in Telangana.

Till the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation elections, Naidu and his family members had exercised their franchise in Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad, though he had been operating from Vijayawada for over a year.

Now, he seems to have realised that there is no point in having his vote in Hyderabad, because it amounts to being a citizen of one state and having vote in another state. Hence, he applied for shifting of his vote to Vijayawada.

That is fine. But when the leader himself shifts his base to the neighbouring state, where is the point in running the party in Telangana?

The TDP has virtually no place in the Telangana state, as it lost all its elections since the bifurcation and except a couple, all the MLAs and MPs shifted their loyalties to the Telangana Rashtra Samithi.

So, Naidu’s decision will definitely disturb the morale of the left over party cadre in Telangana, say analysts.
