Naidu For Swipe Machines In Liquor Shops!

Naidu For Swipe Machines In Liquor Shops!

With the demonetisation move of the Narendra Modi government, the economies of various states has been badly hit.

Needless to say, sale of liquor is one of the major sources of revenue for any government, accounting for nearly 30 per cent of the total income.

And Andhra Pradesh, too, is no exception. Most of the retail liquor outlets do only cash dealings with the consumers, as most of them spend their daily wages on liquor consumption in the rural areas.

Unlike other goods, there is no online payment facility and even swipe machines are available only in big size bars in the urban areas and not in the rural areas.

Naturally, the abolition of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes resulted in drastic fall in liquor sales at retail outlets as common people are not able to get enough money. Even one or two hundred rupee notes are being spent on essential commodities, rather than liquor.

Obviously, Naidu is very much worried in the fall of excise revenue. So, to encourage more sales, he suggested that all liquor shops install swiping machines so that at least middle income group people can use their credit and debit cards to pay money online and get liquor.

He told this idea at the party meeting the other day and received wide applause from the party workers!
