Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister KE Krishna Murthy on Saturday expressed confidence that his government would soon find a solution to the issue of waiving of farmers' agricultural loans.
Speaking to media persons, Krishna Murthy said that the government would hold consultations with the bankers and the senior officials of Reserve Bank of India on the issue.
He said that the farmers need not worry about the objections raised by RBI over the schemes. “Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu is firm on waiving off farmers loans and he would ensure that the promise gets fulfilled,” he said.
However, it is nearly two months since the TDP came to power in AP and almost a month since Naidu took over as the chief minister, but there has been no decision so far on the loan waiver.
The new kharif season has begun, but farmers are not getting fresh loans as they have to pay back the arrears. Unless Naidu implements his promise on which he had signed the first file, farmers’ misery will continue.
