Naidu Can't Help Akhila, As Noose Tightens

The Hyderabad police has virtually tightened the noose around Telugu Desam Party leader and former tourism minister Bhuma Akhila Priya in the alleged abduction of three persons in Hyderabad in connection with the Hafeezpet land dispute.

The family is learnt to have sought the help of party president and former chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu to use his good offices to bail Akhila out of the case, but he is learnt to have expressed his inability to come to her rescue as the situation is pretty bad.

While the Telangana police have gathered concrete evidence about her involvement in the abduction case, the Andhra Pradesh police, too, seem to have closed all the doors for Akhila to escape.

If the reports coming from Allagadda are true, the Andhra police, too, are digging out details about her family’s benami assets so that she cannot escape from the clutches of law.

“The moment she comes out on bail from Hyderabad, she will be fixed in cases in Kurnool,” sources said.

It is learnt Naidu also asked his party leaders not to react to Akhila’s arrest or her involvement in the abduction case, as it would damage the party prospects. He, too, remained non-available for the family of Akhila.

“It is purely a personal affair of Akhila and it has nothing to do with the TDP. The issue hasn’t come up for discussion in the party at all,” TDP Kurnool district unit president Somisetty Venkateshwarlu said.

The police have arrested three more people – Boya Sampath Kumar, Akhila’s Personal Assistant, N Mallikarjuna Reddy, personal assistant of Akhila’s husband Bhargava Ram and D Balachennaiah, her car driver.

After their interrogation, the police revealed that it was Akhila Priya, who had personally monitored the kidnap of three persons by reportedly giving key instructions to the kidnappers.
