Naidu Back To 'camp' Politics

Telugu Desam Party president and AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, who was well-known for playing “camp politics” to keep his flock together, is back to his old tactics.

According to sources, Naidu has directed shifting of the party’s 19 ZPTC members in Khammam district to north Andhra in order to prevent other parties from poaching them.

As the election of Khammam ZP vice-president is scheduled to be conducted on August 7, the TDP leaders took extra care to keep its flock together and escorted its ZPTC members to north Andhra for an excursion and to keep other parties at bay.

It is learnt that the “hijacked” ZPTCs will be brought to Khammam on the night of August 6 from a hideout near Visakhapatnam.

Naidu directed that every effort should be made to bag the Khammam Zilla Parishad president’s post. Though the party has bagged majority of ZPTC seats in the district, it is falling short of one seat for cornering the prestigious post.

Naidu had held similar camps for MLAs in the past at Nandi Hills near Bangalore when Nadendla Bhaskar Rao had dethroned N T Rama Rao in 1984.

Again in 1995, Naidu held a similar camp at Hotel Viceroy with the MLAs supporting him, during a coup against NTR.
