Naidu, A Darling Of World Bank Again!

Naidu, A Darling Of World Bank Again!

Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, who had earned notoriety of being a 'World Bank jeethagadu' (paid servant of the World Bank) when he was in power between 1995 and 2004, has once again proved to be a darling for the World Bank.

This was evident from the report released by World Bank on Monday on “Ease of Doing Business in India.”

The bank ranked Andhra Pradesh second with a score of 70.13 per cent, next only to Gujarat which stood first with a top score of 71.14 per cent.

The bank said Naidu government made a very good impact on industrial sector with its investor-friendly initiatives.

Simultaneously, Andhra Pradesh, according to the World Bank, provides clarity on the timelines involved in deciding on applications which enable entrepreneurs to plan effectively in terms of making investment decisions.

Interestingly, the World Bank put the Telangana State in 13th position in the country, though Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao boasted of implementing the most investor-friendly industrial policy and giving clearances to industries within 13 days of their application.

Naidu is obviously on cloud nine for securing second position for AP in the World Bank report, while seeing Telangana in 13th position.

“This has become possible because of Naidu’s vision and continuous push to transform Andhra Pradesh into the best investment destination through visits to countries like Singapore, Japan, China and Davos as well as regular business meetings with industrialists and investors,” government sources said.
