Murali Mohan to be new TTD chief?

Veteran Telugu film actor-producer, prominent realtor and former Telugu Desam Party MP from Rajahmundry Murali Mohan is most likely to be appointed as the chairman of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams trust board soon.

According to sources, the 84-year-old leader is learnt to have requested Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu to give him an opportunity to serve Lord Venkateshwara in the fag-end of his life and career.

Naidu has agreed to the request of Murali Mohan.

“In all probability, orders would be issued sometime this week along with filling up of other nominated posts,” sources said.

The TDP chief has called for a meeting of his party seniors along with representatives of his alliance partners – Jana Sena Party and Bharatiya Janata Party – today to discuss the issue of filling up of nominated posts.

Sources said there has been an intense lobbying within the TDP for the TTD chairman post. Though Naidu initially proposed to nominate veteran leader and former Union minister P Ashok Gajapathi Raju, the latter did not evince any interest in the same.

At the same time, other film personalities like K Raghavendra Rao and Ashwini Dutt also reportedly threw their hats in the ring for the TTD chairman post. Besides, a couple of other senior TDP leaders are also seriously trying for the post.

But Naidu is learnt to have conceded the request of Murali Mohan, who has been loyal to the party for several years, though he has not been in the active politics since 2019.
