Telugu Desam Party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu is learnt to have given green signal to the defection of yet another leader, this time from the Congress, into the TDP. He is none other than former minister and veteran leader from Guntur Mohammad Jani.
Jani, whose term as an MLC is coming to an end in a couple of months, cannot win again if he continues in the Congress party. So, he has decided to defect to the TDP and sent a message to Naidu through Andhra TDP president Kala Venkat Rao. And Naidu is said to have given his nod for his defection and also an assurance to field him again in the ensuring MLC elections.
But that is going to cause a lot of consternation among the MLC aspirants within the TDP. Though entry of leaders like Jani would bring some strength to the party in Guntur, it would also create internal discontent in the party of Naidu encourages defectors.
Already, there has been a lot of disgruntlement among the TDP leaders in the constituencies, where YSR Congress party MLAs defected to the TDP. And it would be a Herculean task for Naidu to satisfy the disgruntled leaders with positions and posts.
Already, Naidu’s son Lokesh is in fray for the MLC elections and he has to win the seat to get into the state cabinet. And he is said to be preferring Guntur district for the MLC elections. It means more aspirants will lose an opportunity to get the MLC seat. That is the whole trouble for Naidu!
