That there is no place for integrity and morality in politics has once again been proved in the ongoing series of defections from one party to another in Telangana, ahead of the by-elections to Munugode assembly seat on November 3.
It has not even been two months since senior Dalit leader Dasoju Sravan had defected from the Congress to the Bharatiya Janata Party saying there is no internal democracy in the Congress and that there is no place for weaker sections.
Sravan jumped into the BJP in the presence of its national president J P Nadda only in August this year along with Congress MLA Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy.
But on Friday, Sravan resigned from the saffron party suddenly making wild allegations against the party.
In a letter to state BJP president Bandi Sanjay, Sravan made the same allegations saying that the BJP has place for only big contractors who can splurge money and not for leaders from weaker sections like him.
Within an hour, another senior BJP leader K Swamy Goud, who served as the chairman of Telangana state legislative council till 2019, also resigned from the party. He also made the same allegations against the BJP leadership.
By 4 pm, both Sravan and Goud jumped into the Telangana Rashtra Samithi in the presence of TRS working president K T Rama Rao at a big event on the city outskirts. Many more leaders from the BJP are expected to join the TRS.
Interestingly, both Sravan and Swamy Goud had enjoyed good positions when they were in their parent parties for quite a long time.
While Sravan was made the spokesperson of All India Congress Committee, Swamy Goud was made an MLC and the chairman of Telangana state legislative council.
Sravan was also given the Congress party ticket from Khairatabad assembly constituency. But he chose to join the BJP obviously for monetary gains. Earlier, he was in the Praja Rajyam Party and from there, he came to the TRS and later defected to the Congress.
Similarly, Swamy Goud, who was the Telangana NGOs’ Association leader, joined the BJP just because he was not given the MLC seat again by the TRS leadership. Now, he is also back with the TRS ahead of the Munugode by-poll.
